What is a VA?

A VA, or virtual assistant, is an entrepreneur who provides professional administrative, technical, or creative (social) assistance to clients from a home office.  Because virtual assistants are independent contractors rather than employees, clients are not responsible for any employee-related taxes, insurance or benefits. Clients also avoid the logistical problem of providing extra office space, equipment or supplies.  VA services can range from general office services to specialized services for lawyers, realtors, doctors, etc.  A general VA is a great solution for solo-preneurs who are rapidly expanding, but not yet ready to open and staff an office.

General VA services typically include such tasks as: blogging, data entry, database creation, email screening, event planning, flyers and brochures, marketing, newsletter preparation and delivery, online research, remotely answering phones, social media, typing, website maintenance, etc.
